Oiestad, Steven

Born and raised on a ranch near Big Timber, MT, Oiestad spent his childhood years studying and sketching the animals in his environment. He received a degree in Agricultural Education from Montana State University, and shortly after was chosen to represent the United States on agricultural exchange programs to both Poland and Africa.

Oiestad moved to Great Falls in the late 1980s where his passion for art was once again renewed, thanks to an incredible group of artists and art community that reside in this area.

A 30 year veteran of the C.M.Russell Auction, he has participated in many quick-draws during those years. In 2004, Steven was honored with the prestigious ” Honorary Chairman’s Award” at the C.M.Russell art auction. In 2017, Steven was chosen as one of four artists to be a part of the “Charlie Russell Riders Group”, an organization now celebrating it’s 33rd year of supporting many museums in the west. “It’s a real honor to be a part of this FANTASTIC group” says Steven.
